2024 marks the first year, 1FUR1 joins Long Beach Gives. Our goal was to raise four thousand dollars and split it among our four program partners. However, we raised 8% of that goal totaling $300. We pledge to help with veterinary and food costs covered by the animal’s handler/pet parent. So, Melissa at Hearts and Hooves Therapy will get 12 bales of hay for her therapy mini horses.

1 FUR 1 Foundation is made by 100% volunteers on a mission create, nurture and expand therapeutic programs in the U.S.A. As a volunteer run 501(c)(3) charity, we measure our community impact by the number of animal assisted therapy and activities sessions provided by the 70+ specially trained and certified therapy animals and their handlers. Our innovative approach is helping:

• Child crime victims testify in court with supportive canine advocates by their side
• First responders and medical staff overcome burn-out and fatigue while on the job with the help of Newfie therapy dogs
• Autistic children overcome physical and cognitive challenges with encouraging therapy mini horses
• Veterans and their families receive animal assisted intervention as an alternative health care plan
• Dementia and Alzheimer patients whose mood is elevated and positive memories are triggered by interacting with a specially trained animal

1FUR1’s diverse programs help those who need it most. From the elderly with disabilities, veterans with PTSD to hospital patients, crime survivors and first responders. So far, 1 FUR1’s mission has been able to help over 274,053 people in need exclusively by the public’s support. So we were happy to meet our Long Beach community at the LB Gives EXPO & Festival. It was so much fun that we want to do it again next year. We’re excited to elevate our presence in 2025 and once again participate in this wonderful community campaign. Thank you all!
